Here is your early sign of spring fact of the day. Hepatica is another one of my favorite early blooming wildflowers. It can be white, pink, purple or blue. There used to be something called the Doctrine of Signatures. Basically, it was believed that if a part of a plant resembled a body part, that it would be good to use to treat ailments of that body part. The name Hepatica is from the Greek hepar, for 'liver' referring to the shape of the leaves.
