Here's your orange things in nature fact of the day. I am eagerly awaiting the return of the brood X periodical cicadas to my area of Ohio. They are due to emerge next month after spending 17 years underground as nymphs. They will emerge by the millions and cover the trees making buzzing calls to attract a mate. Some people are freaked out by them, but I am a huge bug nerd and I couldn't be more excited to see them again. When I was younger, I made a wreath out of their exoskeletons. This year I painted a pumpkin with one on it for our Greene County Parks & Trails Pumpkin Glow event. #orange #cicadas #insects #periodical cicadas #natureclub
