Here's your brown things in nature fact of the day. There are MANY brown birds and identification can be tricky. Birders often nickname them LBJs (Little Brown Jobs) when they have a hard time telling one species from another or didn't get a good enough look to figure them out. Many sparrows fit into that category. One of my favorites is the chipping sparrow. They are back in Ohio now and they are simply delightful. They are tinier than other sparrows and have a reddish cap during breeding season. They aren't as skittish as most birds. I often see them in the middle of a bike path that I walk frequently and I can get quite close to them before they fly off. #brown #brownweek #birds #sparrows #chippingsparrow #natureclub
