Happy Mother's Day! Here's your brown things in nature fact of the day. Have you ever wondered how a bat gives birth while hanging upside down? The mother bats have to act fast and catch their babies in their wings. The pups are born weighing up to one third of their mothers weight. For a human mom that would be like having a baby that weighed 40 pounds! Mother bats often fly with their pups. The young cling to their mother’s underarm nipple with their mouths and hang onto her waist with their toes. Imagine trying to fly while carrying a baby that's more than a third of your weight from your nipples! I'm glad I'm not a bat! #brown #brownweek #bats #mothersday #natureclub
