6/5 Walk to Fort Clinton in Central Park @ 10am. DESTINATION: This is about a 3 mile walk to Fort Clinton in Central Park. More info is here: https://www.centralparknyc.org/attractions/fort-clinton PACE/ROUTE: Walking pace is medium/conversational. We walk about a 25 minute mile (a little over a minute for one average city block). There is a short but steep hill on the route with a small set of stairs. We’ll walk on the bridle path (crushed rock) and asphalt. We make brief stops as needed if we have a large group to make sure that everyone stays together and that no one gets lost. START/FINISH: The meet up/finish spot IS ALWAYS THE SAME - enter the park through 90th Street and Fifth Avenue, and cross the road with runners and cyclists. Stay on the dirt path (bridle path) on other side of the road. Meet in front of the John Purroy Mitchel statue, a gold bust on the stone wall with 2 sets of stairs just BELOW the reservoir path. Look for me in EverWalk gear. BATHROOM STOP: Will be at the Conservatory Gardens, about 1 mile into the walk. RELEASE: If you participate in a walk you are responsible for yourself and agree not to hold the EverWalk organization, its leaders or members liable in any way for any injuries or damage which may occur as a result of your participation. WEATHER NOTE: We will walk in the cold, in light rain, and light snow. We won’t walk on icy areas, in heavy downpours, in lightning or unsafe terrain. Use your judgment, dress in layers. We will post here by 7 AM every Saturday if there is a need to cancel due to inclement weather.
