Here is your vernal pool fact of the day. Spring peepers are tiny tree frogs who can be found in vernal pools. They will breed in other bodies of water, however, and are not considered to be vernal pool indicator species. These little frogs can sit comfortably on my thumb and yet they can be heard at a distance of a mile away! Being surrounded by them is deafening and I truly believe that I have them to blame for my current need for hearing aids after all the hours I have spent in vernal pools over the years. #vernalpools #natureclub #springpeeper #frogs
